From controlling Spam, to preventing viruses, we'll try to add basic tips on how to utilize your email better.

Some things might be topical, as Spammers change their techniques often, sometimes negating older advice.  Other might just be common settings, proper use, mis-use, blacklists, and bcc use for those stupid forwards.

AOL seems to make reporting email as spam way way too easy.
Over the past couple months, I've been seeing way too many legitimate email being reported as junk.

It is likely an accident on the part of the AOL user, but AOL counts those mistakes. Here are just a couple of examples:

You really have to stop using that AOL address and step up to the 20th Century.
 
 
Yes, we know it's the 21st Century. That's our point. People (other adults) were using Professional, Grown-up, Adult email addresses way back in the 1990's.

I'm not receiving an email I'm expecting

"I'm expecting an email, and I know it's been sent. But, I haven't received it yet."

Sometimes, an email can get blocked by the Mail Filters, either because of the message looks like spam to the filters, or the message might have an attachment that is viewed as 'unsafe'.

Start unsubscribing. Please.
Listen up people, some of you have probably heard the advice of  "Don't unsubscribe, because that only verifies your email address."

That's so 1999. How about following advice from 2007. If you don't want to be on a mailing list, unsubscribe.
