In other words, why isn't the login for your email just the front part of your email? Like 'johns' for 'johns@yourwebaddress'
The simple answer: so the mailserver knows which 'johns' you are.
On a shared server, which most websites are on, there are several domains. So, there might be a 'johns@someoneElse' on the server. There can't be more than one 'johns' so the server needs a way to differentiate. Otherwise, you'd end up having address like AOL, with 'johns2001'.

There are many FTP programs out there to use to upload files to your website. Some free, some commercial.
A couple of commercial products are WS_FTP and CuteFTP.
Free downloads include WinSCP (http://winscp.net/eng/index.php ) and FileZilla .
From the screenshots of winscp, it looks a little 'friendlier' to non-techies. And it has a built-in text editor which is very helpful when making quick edits to your html site. |

Two common, yet useless email features are Return Receipt and Auto-Reply.
They sound great in theory, with Auto-Reply letting people know you might be on vacation and when you will return, and Return Receipt telling you that they read your message. But, this assumes a perfect e-world, where there is no spam, and we pretend that Return Receipt is similar to paper mail from the Post Office. In reality they are completely useless.

We’ve been asked many times about how to get more traffic to your websites. There’s no easy or cheap solution.
A few simple things that can be done affordably is to add metatag descriptions and keywords. And have that description be closely related to the actual content on the page. Search engines want content. They love content. If you content is well written, and informative, the search engines may index you better. After all, they want their search results to give the user excellent info.
If you need help writing more “gooder” content for your website, contact us. We have excellent Copy Writers available to us. (I just don’t use them, so my content can be real badly riten.)
